Emergent Narrative

Emergent Narrative is the concept that, when a game offers enough freedom to the player, the player can form their own story. Emergent Game-play is the idea that, rather than shoehorning the player into a pre-constructed story, you should establish a structure, through game technicalities, in which a player can experience their own stories.  One  Minecraft player might have tales of profound exploration, while another might tell of his Fitzcarraldo-like endeavor to build a stronghold on top of a mountain.  These games give players a world and tools which allow them to experience wholly unique stories.  No two games of Minecraft are ever alike.  Ditto for Dwarf Fortress, or Sim City, or Grand Theft Auto.  Hell, board and tabletop games are a study in emergent narrative, where the stories that emerge depend more on who you’re playing with than the game itself, and the mechanics are just there to facilitate.

High or Low

Does it really matter if the graphics of the game are high resolution or not? Some people pay a lot of attention to the graphics of the game and some people don't really care about the visual part and lean more to the game play experience. Nowadays games ar getting better with visual graphics and less bugs trying to give the gamer a better experience to the game and make it feel more real. Realistic game can strive to model the real world in a
fashion which produces results as consistent with what would happen as possible. However, since the real world is incredibly complex, setting this as a goal tends to result in games which are also incredibly complex, even if compromises are made. Sometimes game industries spends millions and so much time working and focusing on the graphics of the game and neglect the gameplay and other assets of the game , which then leads the game to fail especially that it will be put up in a high price.

3d vs 2d games

2D games are typically Scrollers. The first Super Mario Bros. on NES fits one type of Scroller ( you can't move backwards in that unfortunately). Your avatar is flat. You can move left, right, up, and down. There are several types of 2D games,.. several styles. So beyond that flat avatar and those directions of movement, it is hard to find any other constant. A 3D game usually suggest the incorporation of Depth. If you were to look into details on the Dimensions, Depth is the third Dimension. So the term holds up in reality as well. 3D basically just means it has more than 2 dimensions. COD and Skyrim are 3D because you can see more than one side of them. (You can see their faces, bodies, etc.) 3D can also be used for a 3D movie but it can also mean what I just said. And extreme gaming, just means you get a game(s) and no life it for a while, playing it for most of your time.
